Great Rookwood Production Piece

This vase is often seen. It is #2591 dated 1922. But this is about as crisp as they come. Great detail and color. Love the blue crystaline glaze.

Rookwood Arts & Crafts - #2891 dated 1927

I really like the over glaze and under glaze combination on this one. I have seen this vase a few times online and it never has the detail that this one does.  It is about 10" high.

Zuid Holland Art Nouveau Vase - Circa 1904 - 18" Tall

Wow.  I could not believe my luck when I purchased this on eBay as a buy now only seconds after it was listed.  I usually just look for American Art Pottery but I was pretty lucky to end up with this piece.  It is in perfect condition.  The Art Nouveau flowing lines are fantastic and so is the color.

Roseville Green Baneda

One of my favorite middle period Roseville lines.  Green Baneda.  The colors are fantastic.  The dripping glazes pooled at the bottom of the vase.   Love the look!

Rookwood Art Deco Pot 6113 - Great Pattern!

I love the design of this 1920's Rookwood Production piece.  The color and mold are great.  I don't see this shape very often.

Cambridge Art Pottery Matte Green Pitcher circa 1906

Here is a unique piece.  I purchased it on eBay.  When it arrived I realized that the Weller sticker is fake.  This mark was die impressed and not a sticker.  After a few days of research I identified the piece of Matte Green by Cambridge Art Pottery -- it was only made for approximately 6 years (approximately 1902 to 1908).  The slash shaped kiln marks are unique to Cambridge.  I am tempted to soak off the fake sticker but I think I will leave it there as part of history.

Daniel Low Sterling Silver Salem Witch Sugar Shell

Was sitting at work then this buy now popped up on my eBay listings.  Count not hit the buy botton fast enough.  Had to be quick on the draw for win this auction.  It will look great with my Daniel Low Salem sugar tongs!  Halloween tea party anyone?

Rookwood Cat Doorstop - One Very Rare Production Piece!

A very rare piece indeed.  This Doorstop is #2637 and is dated 1922.  I have done a lot of research and this may one of only 3 known in existence.  This one is in amazing condition.  It doesn't even have a scratch on the gloss black glaze.  The cat is notched out on the back to hold the door.  Very heavy!  Definitely a conversation piece.  He has lots of attitude!

Yellow Rookwood Production Glaze

This is my second favorite Rookwood production glaze.  Love these pieces with the dripping mustard yellow glaze.  This Louise Abel nude paperweight #2868 is seen pretty often in online auctions.  But I have never seen one as nice as this 1926 example.  I have never seen such a crisp mold.  Look at her face.  You can even see the strands of her hair.  I have never seen another one with this amount of detail and this great color.  Usually find them in ivory.  I love this glaze but I don't care for the flat yellow version.  For me it needs to be deep mustard oozing color.

Rookwood Ashtray #6298 - Louise Abel

I almost forgot.  This is my 1931 Rookwood ashtray that will go so well with my new Rookwood deco vase that I posted earlier.  Love these unique pieces and this is my favorite blue crystalline glaze.  So stylish!

Gorham Sterling Flask - Dated 1984

Isn't this a great Gorham flask?  Definitely does not fit in the breast pocket.  I snagged this a couple years ago.  I love it.  Nice and solid, weighing over 17 ounces and holds a full quart of my favorite bourbon.  I use it every day.  Something very special about pouring a cocktail out of a flask made the first year Coca Cola was sold in a bottle.  It has a Butler's Finish.  I didn't know what what this meant until I did some research.  Originally, well worn family silver acquired a certain patina from years of being polished by the help.  The butler finish was a manufacturing process that mimicked years of hand polishing....interesting isn't it? :)

My latest cocktail shaker

I have waited over 4 years for Royal Danish cocktail shaker to turn up online at a reasonable price.  I guess reasonable is relative.  Something about a nice, heavy, sterling cocktail shaker that I can not resist.  Although lately I have been drinking my Manhattan's on the rocks.  Maybe I need to switch back to martini style?  This makes 6 sterling shakers and I hate even numbers.  You know what that means......

Weller Barcelona Bowl

This bowl arrived today.  All these years I have never paid much attention to the Weller Barcelona line.  I am not really into the shapes of the vases so I never paid attention to the artwork.  When this bowl came up on eBay I was immediately attracted to the muted rich colors and the design...and of course I could not live without it!

1931 Rookwood Deco Vase

Last evening's purchase.  Do I really need one more Rookwood blue glaze production piece?  How could I resist this one?  This is one of my favorite production glazes and the mold looks nice and crisp.  As usual, I wonder where this vase has been since 1931?  Construction of the Empire State Building was completed in 1931.  Seems like it was a very Deco year!
